TDSO Practice School Students Take Part in Their First Mock Debate Competition

What happens when young learners are given the confidence to speak, think critically, and express their ideas in English?

Students at TDSO Practice School recently participated in their very first Mock Debate Competition, an exciting event that provided an opportunity to showcase their growing communication skills, teamwork, and confidence.

Throughout the competition, students presented arguments, responded to opposing viewpoints, and worked collaboratively with their teammates. The activity encouraged them to think critically, organise their ideas clearly, and communicate effectively in English before an audience.

While many students were experiencing a formal debate setting for the first time, they demonstrated impressive enthusiasm, preparation, and determination. The event highlighted not only their improving English language proficiency but also the development of essential life skills such as public speaking, active listening, problem-solving, and respectful discussion.

At TDSO Practice School, we believe that learning extends beyond textbooks. Activities such as debates help students become confident communicators who can express their opinions, analyse different perspectives, and engage constructively with others. These are valuable skills that will support their future academic success and personal development.

We are proud of every student who participated and grateful to the teachers and staff who helped make this learning experience possible. Their encouragement and guidance played an important role in creating a supportive environment where students felt confident to share their ideas.
