Quality Teaching for Better Learning: Graduation of 132 Teachers

On 1 August 2025, 132 teachers completed four intensive training courses in English language and teaching methodology offered by TDSO – Teacher Development Support Organization. The group included public school teachers, community and NGO school teachers, and student trainees from the Siem Reap Provincial Teacher Training College.

The ceremony was attended by educational authorities and partners from national and local levels, including:
🔹 H.E Dr. Khuon Vichheka, Director General of Teacher Education and Development, MoEYS Cambodia
🔹 Mr. Chan Tola, Director of the Teacher Development Department (នាយកដ្ឋានកិច្ចការវិក្រឹតការ TDD)
🔹 Mr. Vaen Thol, Deputy Director of the Primary Education Department (នាយកដ្ឋានបឋមសិក្សា Primary Education Department)
🔹 Representatives of the Administrative Authorities and District Offices of Education from Angkor Thom District (រដ្ឋបាលស្រុកអង្គរធំ), Kralanh District (រដ្ឋបាលស្រុកក្រឡាញ់), and Siem Reap Municipality (រដ្ឋបាលក្រុងសៀមរាប / Siem Reap Municipality)
🔹 Management and teacher trainers from the Siem Reap Provincial Teacher Training College (សាលាគរុកោសល្យ និងវិក្រឹតការខេត្តសៀមរាប/PTTC-Siem Reap)

💬 As H.E Dr. KHUON Vicheka affirmed:
“We share a collective purpose—to equip our students with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities to build a stronger society. Effective teachers are at the heart of that journey.”

Equally inspiring was graduate Mr. Sreng Chork, who reflected on the 7 key takeaways from the course—including education psychology, project-based learning, phonics, peer feedback, and integrating play into lessons to increase student engagement. His insights echoed a shared experience: learning approaches that truly work in real classrooms.

📈 During the event, Mr Son Nat, TDSO’s Executive Director, highlighted the organisation’s steady progress since 2017:
• Community English classes delivered to 500 students daily
• Pedagogical training provided to 200+ NGO teachers
• English teaching methodology training for 375+ public primary school teachers
• A team that grew from just 2 to 42 committed staff members

This momentum reflects not only a strong internal team but also consistent trust from the Ministry, local authorities, and education leaders. TDSO’s training programmes have recently been recognised by the Continuous Professional Development Management Office (CPDMO)—two of which have been granted full accreditation (8 credits valid for 5 years).

🚀 What’s next? TDSO continues to scale up its impact through:
✔️ Expanding outreach to contract teachers in 18 provinces
✔️ Strengthening the institution as a centre of excellence
✔️ Supporting teachers to bring effective, student-centred learning into their classrooms

👏 Congratulations to all graduates. Your growth is a step forward for your students, your schools, and the education system as a whole.
